Map Poll only for 3 days, please vote!

The Map Poll is now active. It runs for 3 days only, so the participants know at least 40 hours before the games take place which maps will be played. I would therefore like to ask all SauerClub Members to Vote for the Qualification maps for August - NOW. Please give new maps a chance! They are new to all and therefore a big chance to make it to become the new challenger... ;-)

new release / map poll

As most of you will know already, the new Sauerbraten release is available from sauerbraten.org. Many new maps are included and even new modes, etc. Check it out.

As I am still on vacation I will make a new map poll including the new maps when I get back home, which will be on Tuesday. The poll will run until Friday, so, SauerClub Members, please make sure you vote within that timeframe. The Qualifiers will take place Sunday, August 1st. You will have to use the new Sauerbraten release. The modes will be the usual ones. Don't forget to sign up!

Enjoy the new version!

AUGUST PSL postponed for 1 week

Unfortunately we have to postpone August's Qualification Games and Title Matches for one one week, as I will be on holidays still, as it just turned out. Sorry! See you at the Qualification games on August 1st then! Map-Poll will be started next week.

Participate

From what I have seen in the last few weeks in terms of clan-changes by some players, I dare to say that there are at least two more clans that play that I believe could become quite successful on PSL.

This is to encourage you to take part in PSL. It's not a shame not to win at PSL, rather it's a shame not to give it a try. Almost every team lost several times before they became successful in PSL. And the ones who won right away, just were first - or have been playing other contests in other games before. In the beginning, when you play PSL, it's strenous and exiting, and you will have to face the thought that you play against people you know are good as you if not better. It is something everyone has to get used to first. But: ultimately it makes you strong in your mind. It's an experience that will add a lot to your psychological skills. The more situations you've been in with pressure, the cooler you stay in general.

So: put a team together, learn how to best communicate via Mumble/Teamspeak/Ventrilo while playing and sign up for the next games in a few weeks.

See you!

Spawn Camping on our public server

I had to read this (backup) post by Honzik1 currently. He seems to complain that oo|andi was kicking Fraggsta for spawn-camping in a public game (not a league game). He draws the conclusion that this tells you "how serious PSL admins are".

I can't help it, but this really makes me wonder. What an emphasis! It's not that he complains about oo|andis behaviour to me in a private message - he gathers the time to really make a post and a video (which makes me believe he has the impression that what oo|andi does is absolute wrongdoing). Given that - does Honzik want to say that he (himself) favors spawn-camping? I kind of get the impression he makes that statement.

Also: One of the reasons why RB does not take part in PSL anymore was my generalized statement about russia's corruption (which, though beeing quite a fact, I even apologized for). Now he (himself) generalizes in quite an astonishing way: What oo|andi does in a public games shall make you think about what e.g. I (shmutz) do and decide in a league game. Now this is what I call creating a prejudice on lose grounds and even spreading it.

It's not that I want to boil everything up again. But: please, Honzik1 - in your own interest: stop trolling. It is so far-fetched by now, it is getting ridiculous.

PSL1 is a server meant and dedicated for low-level to high-level players which try to become good at the game - the way it is intended, the way it is designed for. If your only goal is to be on top on the scoreboard and you give a shit about the flags, but rather spawn-camp - you risk getting kicked. Not by me, because I will rather talk to the player in advance (as especially some TC's will know from the past months, when I told them how much I dislike their camping and carelessness about the team-score sometimes by few of their members). But yeah: there are admins who dislike spawn-camping much harder - and if they see that other people leave pissed, I can understand why they kick. Our public servers are not meant to be a place for vain asses, but for good games. Spawn-camping destroys good games. Rather take a look for example at the QS clan-rules (backup). They pretty much hit the spot how skilled clan-players should act like. Maybe think about how childish and vain you appear when you are a good player and spawn-camp. Everyone can see how desperate you are for being on top of the list. Everyone can see that a computer game is everything you have and the position you achieve in there is all that defines you and makes your day. You really want that?

Now. If you want to play on a public server that favours spawn-camping, go somewhere else. On PSL servers, as you know now, you will be kicked by some admins.
